Illustrative collision repair vehicle in a workshop

COPLEY AUTO & COLLISION

Understand the next step
before repairs begin.

Use this guide to prepare for your conversation with the shop and your insurance company.

Requests do not confirm an appointment. Our team will discuss availability with you.

FROM REQUEST TO REPAIR

We work with all insurance companies.

Copley Auto & Collision offers full collision repair, from small dents to collision and frame repairs. Stop by during shop hours for a computerized estimate. Your insurer confirms coverage and any applicable deductible.

Start with the vehicle and your concerns.

Send vehicle details, the damage or symptoms, and any timing concerns. If you have an insurance claim, include the insurer, claim number and adjuster contact information when available.

Confirm the inspection and estimate arrangements.

Ask the shop how the vehicle should be inspected, whether an estimate appointment is needed, and whether any inspection or diagnostic charges apply. Photos are a starting point; an in-person assessment may be needed.

Ask your insurer about coverage.

Your insurer can explain your claim requirements, applicable deductible, and whether towing or rental expenses are covered. Keep copies of estimates, receipts, and claim correspondence. Coverage depends on the policy and claim.

Review the proposed work.

Discuss the repair scope, estimate, parts options, and payment arrangements with the shop. Ask how any additional damage or changes to the estimate will be communicated and approved.

Confirm authorization and scheduling.

A website request is not repair authorization or a confirmed appointment. Arrange drop-off and the start of work directly with the shop. Ask who will provide updates and how to reach them.

Plan pickup with the shop.

Ask about the expected completion date, payment due, repair documentation, and any care instructions or warranty terms that apply. Timing must be confirmed by the shop.

Have these questions ready

  • What information do you need from my insurer?
  • Are there inspection, diagnostic, storage, or other charges I should understand?
  • Who will contact me if the scope or price changes?
  • What payment methods do you accept?
  • What warranty, if any, applies to this specific repair?

This is a planning guide. The shop will confirm its process for your vehicle. For claim preparation, see the Insurance Information Institute’s claim guide.
